From Consistent Exercise Week 1, with Love

Hello! And welcome!

Week 1 of the exercise has begun and it was NOT a total loss! To recap and summarize… when I had a 3 minute commute (literally), I would get up at 530 and run and work out and then shower up and still make it to work by 730. Now, I have approx a 40 min commute (to a sweet ass job that I love mind you, so, def worth the efforts), walking 13-17 min to the metro – depending on how slow I am feeling – and then 16 min metro ride and a 4-6 min walk from L’enfant to NASA headquarters in downtown DC. But with the longer commute, I don’t have as much time to run in the morning and still walk the pup and get myself together before having to be out of the door by 645 or 650. Yes, I walk to the metro, but that doesn’t mean that I am getting the daily exercise that I used to and in turn not feeling as awesome (although still awesome enough, hehehe)…. not only that, but since moving back here in late October, I have gained approx 7-10 lbs from the amazingness that we call food options here. So with all of this being said, I decided this week to make an effort to begin the exercising.

To get sappy for a moment, my husby says he’d love me even if I were to gain a ton of weight, but the shallow side of me says I won’t love me as much as I liked the healthy me 8 months ago. So in the desire to love me more (narcissistic as that sounds)…. and be healthy and blahblahblah, I strapped on my running shoes last weekend and went for a 3 mile run on Sunday, closing out with lunges. On Monday, I played a full 90 minutes of soccer, in the field. On Tuesday, I convinced my friend Erin (who was a really good sport about it all) to try bikram yoga — definitely interesting and definitely an amazing workout! Did you know shins could sweat? I had no idea!!! On Wednesday, I took the night off and went to my friends’ house to watch the caps play. And last night, we had our very first NASA softball game! GO DEEP SPACE 9!!!!

Tonight, Erin and I are planning on hanging out to kick off her birthday weekend which will include wine riot, a special ice cream treat I have on order, and a couple of other things! She turns 29 on Monday and we are going to get in as much fun and awesomeness as possible. My husband and another friend, Leslie, will be accompanying us to wine riot. I am pretty excited for this weekend to go down! My parents will be watching Aldy all day on Saturday so that we can effectively shuttle Erin from place to place. I will post pics after.

Not much else to report. If you want more of me throughout the week, with pics of the craziness that ensues, follow me on twitter: @onelittlebecca

Random thoughts and venting.

This is a totally necessary post. As of late, I have been super busy…. looking at my blog, I see that I have not posted anything in three weeks. Since we last spoke, I have had a minor outpatient procedure, gotten a puppy, picked up some more side work (because I need more money and don’t get paid enough as it is), and pushed through on my weekly grad class. I am also making a wedding website and wedding invitations for my wedding and getting the vendors in place. It’s a lot to do, especially the wedding stuff since we are getting married in my hometown, 1100 miles from where I currently reside (Oh, DC, how I miss thee. I cannot wait to return to your ample bosom…).

Meet Aldous.

Needless to say, I have been ridiculously busy. This is no excuse for skipping out on you, dear readers…. so for that, I apologize. I am one big busy sloppy messy mess mess.

The venting: I happen to know a variety of different people and types of people in this world, which I am sure you all do. I, like most other people, hate to be wrong.  There are several types of these “can-do-no-wrong” peoples; we will only mention three here:

1) the people who really hate to be wrong and can’t except when they are wrong;

2) the people who have to prove me wrong (or you, whoever…);

3) the people who think you’re wrong even when you give them facts from a credible source… often times these facts will be written down….and in turn they don’t listen to your suggestion or statement and then come back and show you the SAME SHIT YOU SHOWED THEM! (they could come back later that day… two weeks from now, 5 months from now, three years from now… it doesn’t matter, the point is they will be coming back to show you how they found what they asked you about even though you showed them…

Then you have the types of people that can’t do anything themselves… they can’t look shit up for themselves; they have ideas and can’t produce the ideas themselves… and since you aren’t busy enough, they ask you to do it…. and when you don’t get to it as quickly as they want you to, they pester you and/or go above you to get your boss to apply pressure also… you can substitute the words DON’T and WON’T here also…. these people are the people who want shit handed to em on a silver platter…. love these people.

Other people's Silver Platter

Piles of Stuff

= shit people give me…

It is extremely frustrating and I know I am not the only one, but I also know that there are other types of people. For example, the ones that have no respect for anyone or anything. There are the people that are happy all the time, and they baffle you because you have NO IDEA how they manage it (and I don’t know about you, but I really wanna know their secret on this one); the kinds of people that are so relaxed that you think they are stoned but aren’t… (you would also like to know their secret)…..and many more…

But, with all of these different types of people, in the end, we all know that they all get upset and they all get happy (genuinely happy) from time to time… Some just hide certain emotions better than others…

And while my pile of stuff that I have to do, continuously is growing, I know that some day in the near future, it will get smaller. I have 4.5 weeks left in my programming class which takes approximately 20 hours of work, spread over three days (majority of it is done on Sat night, Sun afternoon and night, and Monday night) and then a variety of websites I am working on… each group, getting their own day, and a day for my wedding stuff; and we can’t forget, constantly chasing after an 8 week old puppy. Hectic as it is, I probably would not enjoy my life if it was any less busy. I do however, need people to stop with the shenanigans. damnit.

anyway, have a good weekend! happy Saturday! and I will work on being less absent. 🙂

Hardcore slackers, throw your hands up!

Hello my fancy friends. How have you guys been these past two weeks?

I’ve been uhhh… slacking, well on the blog front. But at work, I have been SLAMMED! I have worked almost every single day for the past two weeks. In case you didn’t know, had no clue, or didn’t even wonder until now what I do, I make websites. For people. Who have high demands… which in reality is fine, because it provides me with the challenge my life so desperately needs and wants. Funny thing about all of that… I showed my brother one of my sites that I developed (in two days, check it out — it’s for a good cause!  www.takemcalesterback.com) and he said it was amazing and asked why my blog didn’t look like that… we’ll roll with the title of this post. I am a slacker and haven’t had time to do the extreme customization of this site yet. Anyway, it will come… one of these days when I am sitting around, bored, and stuff, but yea…..

so right now, gettin wednesday started off right! jammin out to Northeast Groovers. I have been listening to these guys since high school and they are bad ass. Love their joints. They were the first go-go I ever heard. And if you aren’t from DC and don’t know what go-go is, then go here and check the NE Groovers out.

They been around for EVER!. They were introduced to me in college and I been jammin to em ever since. I think my all time favorite song by them is called “the water”

Anywho. On to HUMP DAY BITCHES!
